Annotation of the 17th Conference of Environmental Archaeology
The 17 th year of the traditional annual Conference of Environmental Archaeology will take place on 26-27 January 2023 in Brno, in the lecture hall of the Institute of Archaeology and Museology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (Joštova 202/13, building M, access via building K2 – Komenského náměstí 2).
Applications
Applications for presentations are already closed. Participants without subscriptions can attend the conference without registration, provided that the conference fee is paid on the spot (without the conference kit). The amount of the conference fee when paying on the spot is set at CZK 1,000 (students CZK 500).
Conference languages
The conference languages of this year are Czech, Slovak, Polish and English.
Theme
The theme of this year's conference is “Environmental research and archaeometry within the rescue archaeological excavations”. We would like to dedicate the first section of the conference to methodological and principial issues related to the application of natural science analyses connected to the rescue archaeological excavations. We will be particularly interested in questions related to the purpose of performing this kind of analyses within the rescue archaeological excavations, their potential in terms of possible research questions, and of course, also a wide range of individual analyses from the fields of zoology, botany, anthropology, geology, chemistry, physics, geography and other natural sciences disciplines will be presented.The next section of the conference will be dedicated to the presentation of specific results of the application of environmental and archaeometric analyses on individual rescue archaeological excavations. The particular conference blocks will be devoted to individual disciplines and methods, such as geoarchaeology, archaeobotany, zooarchaeology, geophysics, geochemistry, dating methods or material analyses. Due to the large number of rescue archaeological excavations going on recently, we would like to avoid contributions with environmental topics that are not related to rescue archaeology. At the end of the conference, we plan a brief presentation of the posters and a subsequent fruitful discussion on the presented contributions and, in general, on the topic of the application of environmental and archeometric methods within the rescue archaeology.

The conference will be complemented by a social meeting on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in the evening, which will take place from 7 p.m. in the Poupě Brewery (Dominikánská 342 Brno) near the Šilingrovo náměstí tram stop in the center of Brno: https://www.pivovar-poupe.cz/On Saturday, January 28, 2023, an excursion to Brno's museums, galleries and archaeological sites will follow.

Anotace 17. konference environmentální archeologie
17. ročník již tradiční Konference environmentální archeologie se uskuteční ve dnech 26.-27. ledna 2023 v Brně, v přednáškovém sále Ústavu archeologie a muzeologie Filozofické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity (Joštova 202/13, budova M, přístup přes budovu K2 – Komenského náměstí 2).
Přihlášky
Přihlášky prezentací jsou již uzavřeny. Účastníci bez příspěvků se mohou konference zúčastnit i bez přihlášení s tím, že konferenční poplatek zaplatí na místě (bez konferenčního balíčku). Výše konferenčního poplatku při placení na místě je stanovena na 1000 Kč (studenti 500 Kč).
Konferenční jazyky
Konferenčními jazyky tohoto ročníku jsou čeština, slovenština, polština a angličtina.
Téma
Tématem tohoto ročníku konference je environmentální výzkum a archeometrie na záchranných archeologických výzkumech. První sekci konference bychom rádi věnovali metodickým a principiálním otázkám souvisejícím s aplikací přírodovědných analýz v prostředí záchranných archeologických výzkumů. Zejména nás budou zajímat otázky směřující ke smyslu provádění těchto analýz v prostředí ZAV, jejich potenciál, co se možných výzkumných otázek týká, a samozřejmě také pestrá paleta jednotlivých analýz z oblasti zoologie, botaniky, antropologie, geologie, chemie, fyziky, geografie a dalších přírodovědných oborů.
Další sekci konference bychom rádi věnovali prezentaci konkrétních výsledků aplikace environmentálních a archeometrických analýz na jednotlivých záchranných archeologických výzkumech. Konferenční bloky budou věnovány jednotlivým disciplínám a metodám, jako je například geoarcheologie, archeobotanika, zooarcheologie, geofyzika, geochemie, datovací metody nebo materiálové analýzy. Vzhledem k velkému počtu v poslední době probíhajících záchranných archeologických výzkumů bychom se rádi vyhnuli příspěvkům s environmentální tématikou, které nesouvisejí se záchrannou archeologií. Na závěr konference plánujeme stručnou prezentaci posterů a navazující plodnou diskuzi nad přednesenými příspěvky i obecně nad tématem aplikace environmentálních a archeometrických metod v prostředí záchranných archaeologických výzkumů.

Konference bude doplněna společenským setkáním ve čtvrtek 26. ledna 2023 ve večerních hodinách, které se uskuteční od 19 hodin v pivovarském domě Poupě (Dominikánská 342 Brno) u zastávky Šilingrovo náměstí v centru Brna: https://www.pivovar-poupe.cz/V sobotu 28. ledna 2023 bude pro zájemce následovat exkurze po brněnských muzeích a archeologických lokalitách.
